Esker Arts presents Plein Air Painting Weekend at Lough Boora Discovery Park running Saturday 13th - Sunday 14th June, 10am - 5pm

Registration Point: Beside café at entrance.

After a successful launch last year, Esker Arts is delighted to once again host a unique plein air painting workshop weekend based in the extraordinary and distinct environment of Lough Boora Sculpture Park.

Over the course of the weekend, artists Neal Greig, and Jock Nichol will guide attendees to develop paintings and drawings from the unique vistas available in the Lough Boora Sculpture Park, a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts interested in its unique flora and wildlife. Attendees will have an option of a number of locations over the course of the weekend.

This workshop is suitable for:

Professional Artists
Amateur artists
Painters
Artists specialising in drawing
Artists interested in biodiversity and the botany of the bog
Attendees must bring their own supplies and equipment. Please be prepared for any and all weather conditions as Lough Boora is an outdoors space without shelter. While we anticipate good weather for the end of June, the climate in Ireland is unpredictable, so it is best to be prepared for all eventualities.

Both days will end with a round up discussion where attendees will discuss the works created during the day and the facilitators will provide expert critique and recommendations.

Tickets: €50 per day (+booking fee)
Booking: eskerarts-tickets.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/1173660685

We visited Lough Boora with our two children and had a fantastic day out. There is so much for kids to enjoy, from the little train to the enchanting mossy woodland that feels like something out of a fairy tale. Our children loved exploring and running around the forest trails. The park is very accessible and well maintained, making it easy for families to get around. Bicycle hire is available, including wagons for younger children, which is a great option for exploring more of the park. We finished our visit at the café, where we enjoyed refreshments on the lovely terrace overlooking a peaceful lake. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful family day out. We’ll definitely be back!

Great day out. Lovely cafe, which also has a sheltered outdoor seating area overlooking the water. We had a lovely walk - most paths were accessible. The bike-hire person was lovely and helpful - we didn't hire bikes this time but think we will next time. (We also saw the accessibility bikes which seem like a great idea - you can phone or email Lough Boora park for info on those).

Fab place to go to on a nice day for a lovely walk/cycle/run. Each time I visit there's always something different being build. Plenty to explore and plenty more coming soon I believe such as a sauna hot tub. And I saw train tracks so I presume a train journey around is on the cards soon.

today i went here with my family and had such a lovely time. the atmosphere was truly unique and had an otherworldy quality. the mixture of moss was gorgeous. the sculpture walk was so enjoyable and i loved how each artwork incorparated elements of old machinery. there were lots of bathrooms and bins along the walk which was greatly appreciated. overall i would highly reccomend !!

Great outdoor centre. Designed to be suitable for all ages. Smooth paths suitable for children on their bikes, the elderly and all ages in between. You discover different sculptures as you meander the different paths. No adventure would be complete without a a lovely coffee shop to restore energies. Boora ticks all the boxes.
